Notifications¶
Set up email notifications to stay informed about data quality events without checking the UI. TestGen can alert you after profiling runs, test runs, monitor anomalies, and quality score changes.
Prerequisites¶
An SMTP email server must be configured for your TestGen instance. See Configure Email Server for setup instructions. If the email server is not configured, the notification dialog displays a warning.
Set up test run notifications¶
Navigate to the Test Suites page and open the notification dialog. Test Run notifications are sent after a test suite completes. Each rule can be scoped to a specific test suite or applied project-wide.
Available triggers:
- Always — After every test run.
- On Failures — Only when the run has failures or errors.
- On Warnings — When the run has failures, warnings, or errors.
- On Changes — When there are new issues compared to the previous run.
Set up profiling run notifications¶
Navigate to the Table Groups page and open the notification dialog. Profiling Run notifications are sent after a profiling run completes. Each rule can be scoped to a specific table group or applied project-wide.
Available triggers:
- Always — After every profiling run.
- On Changes — When the run detects new hygiene issues.
Set up monitor notifications¶
Navigate to the Monitors page and open the notification dialog. Monitor Run notifications are sent when anomalies are detected. Each rule is scoped to a table group and can optionally be filtered to a specific table.
The only trigger is On Anomalies — notifications are sent when one or more monitors detect an anomaly.
Set up score drop notifications¶
Navigate to the Score Details page for a scorecard and click the (notifications icon). Score Drop notifications are sent when a quality score falls below a threshold you configure.
Set separate thresholds for the Total Score and CDE Score (0-100). Notifications are only sent when a score decreases and falls below the threshold — a score already below the threshold does not trigger repeated alerts.
Manage notification rules¶
Each notification rule can be individually paused or resumed without deleting it. The notification dialog highlights duplicate rules (same recipient, trigger, and scope) to help you avoid sending duplicate emails.
