Component Bulk Actions¶
Make changes to multiple components at one time with bulk actions.
This document describes how to make changes to components in bulk. To update a single component, see Manage Components.
Tip
Filter events by groups of components. From the Components page, select your components, then use the bulk Action drop-down to select View Events. You'll be redirected to the All Events tab with filters applied.
How to edit components in bulk¶
- Use the drop-down in the menu to select a Project > select Components from the menu.

Select the components you want to update.
- Use the checkboxes to choose specific components.
- Click 0 items selected > Select all visible to highlight all components per page.

Select Action > Edit components.
- Optional. Expand the list of Components and verify the components being changed.

Configure the general information, expected schedule, and/or expected arrival window.
See more details on each below.
At any point, click X to end without saving.
General information¶
- Select an external tool from the list.
- Click Edit for all components to apply this change.
- Continue with more changes, or click Save.
This change will apply to all components you've selected.
To provide better context for the infrastructure that sends events to Observability, the Tool field sets the tool type and icon that display across pages in the UI; it does not affect the integration or connection.
Expected schedule¶
You can set a start and/or end schedule. For more information, including behaviors, see Configure an Expected Schedule.

Optional. Set an expected start time.
- Click in the Starts field.
- Set the timeframe, schedule details, and timezone.
- Click Apply.
- To set a Grace period, enter a whole number in the field, then select the unit of time.

Optional. Set an expected end time.
- Click in the Ends field.
- Set the timeframe, schedule details, and timezone.
- Click Apply.

Click Edit for all components to apply this change.
Note, this change applies to batch pipeline components only.

Continue with more changes, or click Save.

Use Custom cron expressions in your expectations. See Cron Expressions in Observability for what is supported.
Expected arrival window¶
You can set an arrival frequency and window of time (duration) for the expectation. For more information, including behaviors, see Configure an Arrival Window.
- Click in the Frequency field.
- Set the timeframe, frequency details, and timezone.
- Click Apply.
- To set a Duration, enter a whole number in the field, then select the unit of time.

Click Edit for all components to apply this change.
Note, this change applies to dataset components only.

Continue with more changes, or click Save.
How to delete components in bulk¶
Use caution when deleting components. This action is permanent. For behaviors, see Delete Components: Outcomes.
- Use the drop-down in the menu to select a Project > select Components from the menu.

Select the components you want to delete.
- Use the checkboxes to choose specific components.
- Click 0 items selected > Select all visible to highlight all components per page.

Select Action > Delete components.

Verify the components and their related journeys.
- Expand the components list.
- Click View related journeys, then expand the journeys list.
- Audit the journeys that will be affected by deleting a component.
- Optional. For more details, open the journey in a new tab.
- Repeat steps (b) to (d) to verify all affected journeys.

Optional. Cancel the delete action and select different components as needed.
- When done, click Delete.
How to create a new journey¶
From the Components page, you can create a new journey that includes any number of existing components.
- Use the drop-down in the menu to select a Project > select Components from the menu.
- Use the checkboxes to select the components you want to include in the new journey.
- Select Action > Add to New Journey.
- Enter a journey name.
- Optional. Enter a description.
- Optional. Expand the list of Components and verify the components that are going to be added to the new journey.
- Click Create Journey.
When the journey is created, you'll be redirected to the journey details Relationships tab where you can continue to build the journey from its components and dependencies. See Create Relationships for steps.
