Create a Project Enterprise

Projects are the spaces that separate and distinguish work. Depending on your organizational needs, projects might be set up by department, team, or goal.

To start a new project, there are two steps. First, create the project, then integrate your tools to send data to the project.

Note

There are no restrictions as to who can create a new project or to the number of projects in an organization's Observability tenant.

Step 1: Create the project

  1. Navigate to the Projects page.

Click your organization's name next to the hamburger icon and select Projects from the menu.

  2. Click + New Project.

  3. Enter a name and description.
  4. Click Save.

Step 2: Integrate with your data estate

When you open an Observability project for the first time, you'll notice there isn't a lot of data being displayed—in fact, there won't be any. For Observability to display data, you must configure your tools and assets to send events to that project.

For details on each of the integration methods available, see Integrate your Tools.

Manage your API keys

The integration agents or external scripts that send events from your data estate to Observability are required to provide an API key to authenticate with the Event Ingestion API. API keys are managed at the project level and allow the system to associate events with the correct project.

You can create and manage keys from the API Keys page. For more details, see API Keys.

Next steps: Monitor your data estate

After your project is created and receives events, you can use Observability to monitor your data estate.
